Jeremiah's Summer Project Experience with Ivory Innovations Operating Foundation (IIOF)

Jeremiah’s Journey Into Housing Development and Affordable Housing

This summer, I participated in an extraordinary internship journey made possible through my role at Ivory Innovations as a student research associate. Join me as I recount my growth-filled experience as a part of the Ivory Innovations Operation Foundation (IIOF), shedding light on the pivotal aspects of this immersive internship.

About Jeremiah: A Student with a Passion for Housing and Entrepreneurship

I am Jeremiah Munn, a business student at the University of Utah seeking a major in entrepreneurship and a minor in architecture. My passion for the creative process propels me to explore hands-on experiences in design and entrepreneurship, a drive that led me to this enriching experience.

Background on Ivory Innovations: Pioneering Affordable Housing Solutions

IIOF is an arm of Ivory Innovations dedicated to utilizing innovative methods to develop affordable housing projects in Utah. Ivory Innovations, a trailblazer in impactful housing affordability solutions, is committed to revolutionizing Utah’s housing market with groundbreaking ideas.

Key Projects During Jeremiah’s Internship at Ivory Innovations

My time at IIOF was characterized by engaging projects that provided me with the practical application of my skills. Here are glimpses into two key projects that defined my internship:

Project 1: Liberty Wells.

At the heart of Salt Lake City lies a dormant gym and baseball field, now under IIOF's wing for conversion into affordable housing units. As an assistant project manager, I orchestrated efforts to secure the property, manage communication with subcontractors, and navigate zoning complexities. This hands-on involvement facilitated my growth in real estate development and project management.

Project 2: Utah Modular and Off-site Construction Code (UMOCC)

With off-site construction gaining traction as an affordable housing solution, I researched off-site construction codes nationwide. This research culminated in drafting a code for potential presentation to Utah's legislature. This experience deepened my understanding of off-site construction and the intricate codes shaping it.

Conclusion: A Transformative Internship in Housing Innovation

My internship journey with Ivory Innovations has been a whirlwind of innovation and hands-on learning. From working on transformative housing projects to drafting legislative codes, I've gained insights that will undoubtedly shape my future in business and architecture. This experience reinforces my belief that innovations in policy, construction, and finance can create meaningful change in affordable housing.
